ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS IN JOSHUA TREE

Writer's picture: Kayla Kayla

Why you SHOULD have a photo shoot in Joshua Tree and how I can help.

As a couples and wedding photographer, Joshua Tree has to be one of my favorite places to shoot. You and your partner will not only have the experience of a photo shoot, but the chance to visit this national park and see all the beauty it has to offer. With it's gorgeous sunsets, fresh mornings, and eye-catching landscapes, Joshua Tree is one of the best places for photos. The variety of backgrounds Joshua Tree offers is unique- empty deserts, beautiful plants, retro buildings, boulders, and one of the most beautiful things-the Joshua Trees themselves. Because of the desert’s vast size, people are dispersed, leaving plenty of room for a photo shoot (and no people in the background!)

This is a place for the wildly in love, the explorers, and boho lovers. If this sounds like you, keep reading for some tips on visiting Joshua Tree for your photo shoot.

Tip #1- Make it worth it!

There is SO much to do!! I urge you to make the most out of your trip to Joshua Tree, like camping, hiking, rock climbing or simply exploring the area. After or before your shoot, visit the eclectic Wine & Rock shop https://wineandrockshop.com/ for cool blankets, souvenirs and to see their mascot, the alien outside. Then get a meal at the hipster-like Yucca Valley Outpost http://www.instagram.com/yuccavalleyoutpost.

Tip #2- Set the scene!

Major tip: Be sure to get the background you want. As I mentioned earlier, there are a variety of landscapes. If you tell me you want boulders as the background, that’s what you will get. And if you tell me you want Cylindropuntias (AKA chollas) all around, then we’ll find the best spot for that. And of course, if you go to Joshua Tree to get Joshua Trees in your photos, then that’s what we’re going to do! Plus, If you and your partner are truly adventurous, this is the place to show that off. I can capture you and your partner rock climbing, off roading (where appropriate), etc. Let's make this fun!

Tip #3- Pick a good time (super important)!!

Lastly, I recommend either an early morning or sunset photo shoot, and if this is during the summer, I highlyyy recommend an early morning shoot so that you don’t sweat too much. Remember, Joshua Tree is a desert, so it gets really hot during the summer. If you want to be comfortable, get the shoot done early, then enjoy the rest of the day at your own pace.

Lastly, Don't worry

You don’t need to worry about how to pose, because I will help you two with that. I will also send you an outfit guide to prepare you for your photo shoot. It will show a few example outfits as well as the fashion “do’s” and “don’ts”. Now that I’ve (hopefully) convinced you to get a photo shoot in Joshua Tree, reach out, and we will go from there.

See you soon!
